We build the software and the work processes that process control engineers use to design, document and improve automation — and we use the same tools ourselves on client data.
The work has always run the same way: assess what is there, propose what should change, then implement it. What has changed is that the assessment is now quantitative. A plant's historian holds the answer to most questions an engineer asks about it, and the tools here exist to get that answer out in a form someone can argue with.
A number without its derivation is an opinion. Every report states the evidence for a finding, the evidence against it, and what it could not settle.
